Feeding The Soil

Another load of mineral and humus dense compost has been delivered.  This load will be spread for the Tempranillo blocks this time, as the Primitivo, Chardonnay, Viognier, Syrah, and Petit Sirah blocks have already been composted this year.  Thanks to Southern Oregon Compost for providing the organic Compost and mixing our mineral needs.  The vines have already started their nutrient uptake requirements for next years production, so getting this compost spread will be a priority for us.  By utilizing organic compost, we are feeding the soil biology, providing organic matter, and adding plant available mineral nutrients.  Compost is truly the touchstone for firing biological systems.  Compost is applied using the vineyards row mulcher, which runs down the alleyways and distributes the compost in a band along the vine rows.
